If there is an NHL Lockout this season, Hockey fans have an alternative way to stay in hockey mode, watch their minor league affilate battle out all season long. The Flyers & their fans can see the future Flyers in action like Shane Harper, Mike Testwuide, Nick Cousins, Tyler Brown, Brandon Manning, Eric Wellwood, and Like Pither, also this year’s draft picks in Fredic Larrson, Anthony Stolarz & Scott Laughton. The American Hockey League (AHL) released their 2012-13 Schedule on August 17, 2012; the Adirondack Phantoms who are the AHL Affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers will begin their season on October 13 when the Host the Portland Pirates & they end the season on April 2 at Albany Devils. This could be the Phantoms final season in Adirondack; they are projected to be playing games in their new home of Allentown PA starting with the 2013-14 season. The Phantoms & Albany Devils have their own instate Rivalry over the Time Warner Cable Cup which is a 12 game battle (6 at Home & 6 on Road); the Phantoms won the cup the last 2 years.

The teams that the Phantoms play in their own division are the Springfield Falcons, Albany Devils, Bridgeport Sound Tigers & Connecticut Whale. Looking at the schedule, you will see the following; the Phantoms will play 4 Games (2 at Home, 2 on Road) against the following teams: Hershey Bears, Norfolk Admirals, Portland Pirates, Rochester Americans, St. John’s IceCaps & Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. They will play 2 teams 8 times (4 at Home & 4 on Road) against Syracuse Crunch & Binghamton Senators. There are 3 teams that the Phantoms will play 6 games against (3 at Home & 3 on Road) they are the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Connecticut Whale & Springfield Falcons. Finally there are 3 teams that the Phantoms will face in only 2 games (1 at home & 1 on Road) they are the Worcester Sharks, Providence Bruins & Manchester Monarchs.

Other interesting things on the Phantoms schedule is the following:

1) Phantoms will play their annual Black Friday game & New Years’ Eve games all at Home. Black Friday on November 30 against the Binghamton Senators, New Year’ Eve on Dec 31 against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

2) Phantoms’ annual game in Philadelphia will take place on Friday, February 22 at the Wells Fargo Center against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

3) The Phantoms Host the defending Calder Cup champion Norfolk Admirals on November 23 & February 1

Some headlines games that will be featured during the AHL Season: 

There will be two outdoor games on Dec. 30, & Jan 20. The game on Dec 30 will feature the Grand Rapids Griffins will take on the Toronto Marlies at Comerica Park in Detroit, part of the 2013 NHL Winter Classic. On Jan. 20, the Hershey Bears, as part of the celebration of the franchise’s 75th AHL season, will host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at Hersheypark Stadium.

SIX NHL arenas – Montreal’s Bell Centre, St. Paul’s Xcel Energy Center, Washington’s Verizon Center, Toronto’s Air Canada Centre, Raleigh’s PNC Arena and Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center are scheduled to host AHL action this season

The 2013 Dunkin’ Donuts AHL All-Star Classic will take place Jan. 27-28 in Providence, Rhode Island
