Per the Philadelphia Phillies official Twitter page, the Phillies have signed Wally Joyner to be the assistant hitting coach. He will report to hitting coach, Steve Henderson.

Joyner, 50-years old, retired from baseball in 2001. Joyner was also listed on the infamous Mitchell Report and admitted to briefly using steroids in a 2005 interview with ESPN The Magazine. Joyner last served as a hitting coach for the Padres in 2008.

This news comes on the heels of the Phillies earlier announcement of Juan Samuels as first base coach.
