An uneventful calm took place before the gruesome storm.
Tuesday night’s USA-Canada friendly finished as it started, with a back-and-forth 0-0 draw. The USA roster was composed of a youth training camp group, with manager Jurgen Klinsman citing seven or eight players to join the Hexagonal roster.
Canada was outshot 15 to two at the hands of the Americans, who created chance after chance. The first half was filled with USA dominance, but no goal came of the pressure.
The second half proceedings were littered with substitutions, as Klinsman entered six bench players into the match. Sensation Juan Agudelo ignited the USA attack, but was unable to score a winner. Canada held off significant pressure throughout the match; however, they were halted on the counter attach, which served as the main root of attack.
While Canada will not be participating in the Hexagonal, the USA will use the next seven days to prepare. Their first match is in Honduras on February 6th.
This match may not have a large impact on the USA squad, but a victory would have sparked momentum into the qualifiers.
