Union continue to stay active during the early days of January by signing Forward Jay Simpson. Simpson is an English player who last played for Leyton Orient from 2014 to 2016. At Orient, Simpson appeared 87 times, scoring 33 goals.

Jay Simpson career started off in the Arsenal Academy. He signed with the first time in 2007 but failed to make an appearance during a Premier League game during his three year stay with Arsenal.  During the three stint with Arsenal, Simpson was sent on loan to Millwall, West Bromwich Albion and Queens Park Rangers. Simpson spent three years with Hull City from 2010 to 2013, scoring 12 goals in 78 appearances. He has also spent time with Buriram United, from 2013 to 2014.

With the signing of Simpson, the Union now have 3 forwards; Jay Simpson, CJ Sapong and Charlie Davies. The Union also have Ronald Alberg and Fabian Herbers who are  midfielders/forward players. Going into preseason, CJ Sapong still seems to be at the top of the forward depth chart for the Union.
