Week 2 of the mls season, features the home opener for the Union, verses Toronto FC. Both teams opened up the season with a 0-0 draw. Union picking up a point in Vancouver, while Toronto FC took a point from Salt Lake. While the Union started off strong, this week will pose at big test for the Union, playing at home and against one of the best team in the Eastern Conference. A few questions may be answered this week, can the Union defense hold against one of the best attacking duos in the league of Sebastian Giovinco and Jozy Altidore. Can Derrick Jones repeat his performance from last week and who will become the Union main goal scorer?

The last time these two teams played was in the first round of the 2016 MLS Cup. Toronto beat the Union 2-1, and went on to play in MLS Cup before losing to Seattle. Alejandro Bedoya scored the Union lone goal in that game. Look for Toronto to play a similar lineup this week as they did in the 2016 playoff game. Michael Bradley, Jozy Altidore and Sebastian Giovinco should all play this week against the Union. The Union lineup for this week, will be similar to last week’s game if not the same. Homegrown player, Derrick Jones will likely see his second straight start for the Union, and newcomers, Simpson, Medunjain and Onyewu should also be featured again. Fabian Herbers will likely get the nod at right wing again, with Ilsinho just recently coming back from injury.
