UPDATE – 7/29/19:

Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz says Cre’Von LeBlanc missed practice today due to injury. The team is still working to learn the nature of the injury. LeBlanc appeared to be healthy following yesterday’s practice.

Following LeBlanc’s absence from practice, the Eagles claimed CB Alex Brown off of waivers. LeBlanc could be set for an extended absence due to the injury.

A number of reports say Cre’Von LeBlanc is missing from practice on day two of training camp, but it is not because of injury. LeBlanc is a healthy scratch, and rumors are flying that he could be getting traded.

Teams typically hold players out of practice, especially when healthy, if a trade could be on the horizon.

LeBlanc has slowly been falling down the depth chart at cornerback since the end of last season. Despite finishing last season on a very high note, playing as arguably the team’s best cornerback, LeBlanc could be the odd man out.

Avonte Maddox and Rasul Douglas have been leading the way at CB during the offseason. Meanwhile, Ronald Darby will likely start once he returns from his torn ACL. The Eagles are high on Sidney Jones, which puts him ahead of LeBlanc, and Jalen Mills is on the PUP list due to a foot injury, which significantly lowers his trade value.

That presumably puts LeBlanc sixth on the depth chart at CB, which could make him a healthy scratch every week of the regular season until injuries happen, if he were to make the roster. Considering that, LeBlanc may have the most value by getting traded.

Due to this, the prospect of LeBlanc getting traded isn’t necessarily a new one. However, this is the clearest sign so far that it actually could happen.

One team jumps off the page as perfect suitors for LeBlanc: the New York Jets.

Joe Douglas, formerly with the Eagles, was hired as the Jets’ general manager this offseason. Douglas is the one who convinced Howie Roseman to bring LeBlanc to Philadelphia midway through last season, and he could make another push at LeBlanc again.

Along with Douglas’ well-known liking of LeBlanc, the Jets could also use another CB. For the right price, the Jets would surely make the move to acquire LeBlanc.

Currently, LeBlanc’s current value is likely a fifth or sixth-round pick. LeBlanc has a team-friendly contract, but he’s in the final year of his deal and hasn’t had much success until the second half of last season, which lowers his value a bit.

Another potential suitor is the Houston Texans. The Texans have a need at CB, and LeBlanc could fill that void. An intriguing option as a potential return is DE Jadeveon Clowney, who is holding out of training camp. Acquiring Clowney is unlikely, but the Eagles have been doing their due diligence on him. The Eagles would likely have to deal a first or second-round pick, along with LeBlanc, to have a legitimate shot at making the splash.

For now, this is just speculation, but there seems to be a very real chance LeBlanc, a fan favorite, could be on the move from Philadelphia. Stay tuned for any further updates.
