Joel Farabee is a 19-year-old forward for the Philadelphia Flyers.
As fans saw on the NHL presentation of Behind the Glass which followed the Flyers throughout training camp Joel was one of the last cuts made before the season began.

Farabee had a good training camp but was having trouble ultimately finding the back of the net. So for the first few games of the year, Farabee was down in Lehigh playing for the Phantoms.  Coach Alain Vigneault assured Farabee he’d be back up with the Flyers soon if he played well and gained some confidence down in the AHL.

It only took 6 games for Flyers to call Farabee up to the bigs and he has proven he is here to stay ever since. Farabee started out as most young players do toward the bottom of the lineup playing on the third line but in just 9 games has moved up to playing on the first line with Giroux and Van Riemsdyk while also playing on the first powerplay unit.

Farabee has 2 goals and an assist so far this year but this does not tell the full story. Farabee has had several points disallowed due to offsides and other infractions. Although done illegally this does show some of the true firepower and goal-scoring ability that Farabee has. As he gains more NHL experience the points totals are just going to continue to rise.

Farabee is here to stay. If he keeps playing the way he is, he will be a huge part of the Flyers this year and hopefully for years to come.
