On Wednesday, the Cleveland Browns revealed their new threads for the 2020 season.
The team is just the latest in a line of seven teams around the NFL that made tiny to extreme adjustments to its uniforms.
The Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have already revealed what they plan to wear in 2020. The New England Patriots and Los Angeles Chargers are among two of the teams set to have new uniforms this year as well.
With that in mind it begs the question, should the Eagles look at getting new uniforms?
The NFL is highly touted as a, “copycat league” and over the past offseasons teams that were thought to have classic uniforms made the switch.
In the 2019 offseason, the Jets revealed a new look after 20 seasons of the hunter green and white uniforms. Similarly, before the Falcons unveiled their new uniforms this offseason the team had not had a change in 17 years.
The Eagles are heading into their 24th season of rocking the midnight green, white and occasionally black uniforms. The look is simple, but sharp and if the Eagles stuck with the look they have currently, a large majority of the fans would not care.
The thought of a redesign for the team is still interesting to think about. If the Eagles were to go full rebuild in terms of appearance, the definitive color combination would consist of Kelly green and white as that look is a large part of the team’s history throughout the 20th century.

The Kelly green jerseys the Eagles wore in the 2010 home opener.
In 2010, the Eagles wore a throwback version of the team’s 1960 jerseys and gave a small glimpse at the possibility of a future redesign with Kelly green and white as the two primary colors.
More recently, local artist Dennis Kennedy released a concept design that incorporated a look similar to that of the Eagles in the 80’s and the 90’s with grey playing a more prominent role.

Both designs are ones that would encompass the history of the Eagles in the city of Philadelphia and would not make the team look like a complete laughing stock on social media pages around the league.
Currently, the team has not announced any sort of change or even hinted at a change to the current uniforms. The Eagles could look to create a look similar to the ones above as an alternate uniform, if the NFL decides to expand its one-helmet rule in 2021.
As the old saying goes, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” and right now the Eagles uniforms are far from broke.
As long as the team does not decide to go with the powder blue and yellow color combination, the colors that the Eagles wear will continue to represent the team that the city of Philadelphia loves.
