The disappointment in Philadelphia is real; not only did the arguably best wide receiver in the draft get taken before the Eagles, but he was picked by the last team the Eagles would’ve wanted him to go to: the Dallas Cowboys.

The Eagles ended up taking a receiver of their own at pick 21 in Jalen Reagor, but it’s hard not to be upset at the fact that Howie let CeeDee fall to Dallas.

There’s still optimism to be found, though. Reagor’s combine stats are equal, if not better than Lamb’s. Reagor had a better vertical jump, broad jump, and 20-yard shuttle while falling only 0.02 seconds short of Lamb in the 40-yard dash, although Reagor’s unofficial 4.22 40 yard dash would have been far superior to Lamb’s.

While only 5’11”, Reagor can certainly reach above defensive backs to make receptions, and when he’s in the open field, no one is catching up to him.

His overall size and attributes may even remind you of Odell Beckham Jr.

Statistically, of course, Reagor’s numbers are nowhere near Lamb’s. In 3 years, Reagor had 25 fewer receptions and over 1,000 fewer yards than Lamb. The difference? Lamb got the chance to play with Kyler Murray and Jalen Hurts while Reagor had 6 different quarterbacks throw to him. I’d imagine Reagor’s stats would look astronomically different if he had a Heisman Trophy winner and a Heisman runner up throw to him.

Still not sold on Reagor?

Don’t forget, Carson Wentz will be his quarterback. Between weeks 14 to 17, Carson Wentz played with a total of 0 recievers who started on opening day.

In week 17, he had even lost Zach Ertz to a rib injury. What did he do? He threw for an average of 299.8 yards per game, 7 total touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and a 100.8 quarterback rating. A normal quarterback would not have been able to perform so efficiently with such a weak supporting cast, but Carson Wentz does what elite quarterbacks do: he elevates the players around him.

If he was able to do this with practice squad recievers, think of what he’ll be able to do with a real deep threat receiver in Reagor.

While today Lamb is more ready to play, Carson Wentz will groom Reagor into the better player 5 years from now.
