After a week filled with sadness for Sixers fans, we are left to pick up the pieces from what may appear to be a lost season.

With injuries to both Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, the Sixers are left without their two biggest stars for the immediate future and, in Simmons, case, the entire season.

So the question stands, how will the Sixers fare without their two biggest stars?

Let’s start by saying that, at the time of writing, there is no timetable for Embiid. That being said, if Embiid were to miss the remainder of the regular season and even some playoff games, it would be astronomically harder for the Sixers to make a splash in the playoffs.

Even before the Simmons injury, Embiid was the focal point of the offense as noted on the regular by today’s NBA picks. By losing not only our best scorer but also our best distributor, the Sixers are in a tricky spot.

Tobias Harris

The Sixers will most likely have to rely on Tobias Harris to carry the team through this rough stretch. If the team can remain afloat long enough for Embiid to recover and get back into the lineup, the Sixers may be better than first envisioned. Though it will still be difficult for the team without Simmons, fans should still remain optimistic as anything can happen in the playoffs.

As previously mentioned, Tobias Harris will no doubt become the Sixers’ primary offensive threat during this stretch without Embiid.

If Josh Richardson can also get his shot going again, he can be the perfect complement to a three-level scorer like Harris. The Sixers will also have to rely on veterans Al Horford and Alec Burks to provide key minutes for the team.

Younger players like Furkan Korkmaz and Matisse Thybulle will also have to show up on both ends of the floor for the team to remain steady.

Shake Milton

The player who may take on the most responsibility, however, will be Shake Milton. Seeing how Shake can handle the responsibility of running the offense without Embiid and Simmons will be crucial to his growth as a player.

This will certainly be a trying time for Sixers fans. The only thing we the fans can do is remain optimistic and hope for the best from this team.

It may be easier said than done, but the Sixers have surprised us before.

How do you think the Sixers will fair without Simmons and Embiid?
