After watching the Los Angeles Lakers led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis win this year’s Finals, I was left thinking “why can’t this be the Sixers?”.

To win in the NBA you need two stars, and I’ve been told that the Sixers have two stars, so why don’t they look like the other teams?

With “the Process” being a thing of the past and the Sixers having already arrived. It’s time for the Sixers young stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons to step up.

The Sixers and the fans have spent the majority of the past two seasons blaming former head coach Brett Brown for their failure to meet expectations.  There is no longer Brett Brown to blame for the team’s shortcomings, now the responsibility lies solely on the shoulders of Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.

If you have read my work before, you would know that I was no Brett Brown fan. In fact, I thought he was an awful coach. I do think the hire of Doc Rivers will pay dividends and pay them quickly. I am in the majority that the issue with the Sixers was indeed Brown.

Embiid has taken to the media on multiple occasions to talk about how he deserves respect and he is one of the dominant players in the NBA.

While Simmons hasn’t boasted through the media the way Embiid has, I can’t help but feel like the two are a little bit entitled. What have Embiid and Simmons done in the league to be considered a dynamic big two? We know about the potential… “If Simmons could develop a jump shot, man would he be unstoppable!” “If Joel Embiid could just stay healthy, he’d be the best Center in the league.” I’m tired of the excuses!

It’s time for Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons to prove that they are among the league’s best duos.

The two must prove that they are on the same level as a pair like LeBron and Anthony Davis, Khawi and Paul George, etc.

The Sixers are in win-now mode. While roster construction can certainly be critiqued, I am putting it on the Sixers “superstars” to carry this team to the promised land.
No more Elton Brand blame, no more Brett Brown blame, no more blame.
It’s time for players to play.
