The NBA Draft will begin tomorrow, November 18th, 2020.

The Philadelphia 76ers currently hold the 21st, 34th, 36th, 49th, and 58th picks in the draft.

Five picks that can easily be used to take some chances, and sure up the bench.

They could also be used in some draft-day trades to acquire more picks or players from other teams in the league. But there is one thing above all that the Sixers’ management needs more than anything on draft night. It is not one specific player or trade, but it is more of an intangible idea.

What the Sixers need more than anything else on draft night is to keep an open mind.

With all of the trades that have already been made heading into the 2020-2021 and the ones that surely will be made on draft night, the Sixers must remain open to trading or moving from any of those five picks tomorrow more than ever. With rumors circulating about a possible push for James Harden, the need to sure up the big man and point guard positions, and the ability to grow the team with incredible young players, the Sixers need to remain flexible. The great teams in this league aren’t afraid to make deals. The Sixers cannot be gun-shy tomorrow night.

This is not intended to be a push for the Sixers to trade all five picks or to use all five picks as they currently sit. This is simply pointing out that what the fans what most on draft night is a team that is willing to make a move if it makes sense, but also a team that can scout a prospect correctly and can help our team win. One cannot win a championship at the draft, but we can lay the groundwork for a successful season during it. Moves will be made tomorrow night and we can expect the Sixers to be a part of some of those moves.

Here’s hoping the team will make the right ones.
