Free agency opened on Monday at noon when the tempering period officially started. Other than one “steal” of a signing with Haason Reddick, the Eagles haven’t really done anything. They resigned a couple of their own free agents such as Greg Ward, Boston Scott, Anthony Harris, and Andre Chachere. Even though the Eagles exceeded expectations by going 9-8 last year, are they really okay with just running it back with the same team? Now that the QB smoke is starting to settle, hopefully Philly will do more to upgrade other positions instead of sitting back and trying to save money to get one. Lets take a look at the best free agents still available after a crazy first week.

The wide receiver position quickly saw the best players go off the board with franchise tags and signings. Some guys left that could still help the Eagles include OBJ, Julio Jones, and Jarvis Landry. Even Though most players on this list are aging heavily, their veteran leadership and ability to teach the young Eagles could be really valuable to the Birds. Other positions of need include safety, corner, and linebacker. All the top guys at each position are gone, but there is still some valuable veterans that could help the locker room. It’s hard to believe the Eagles are going to stick with just Harris, Epps, and Wallace at safety so I expect something to get done their either by trade or free agency signing before the draft. Tyrann Mathieu is the best remaining free agent safety and he could greatly help the Eagles back end. I expect the Eagles to draft at least one linebacker, but guys Like Bobby Wagner still remain on the market and the Eagles need to start valuing the position more. There’s not much corner talent left at all so the Eagles will probably bring back Steven Nelson.

The Eagles had a prime opportunity to make an impact in free agency and really change the outlook of the team. Even though they did offer on guys such as Christian Kirk, and Marcus Williams, and more, they didn’t want to overpay and ended up losing them to other teams. The Eagles need to start making moves now because I’m sure they aren’t going to be content with another middle of the road, 9-8 season.
