If you missed the Press Conference yesterday. You can watch it on the Eagles YouTube page here.

It was the first time Jeffrey Lurie spoke to the media at length since January 11th 2021. The Eagles were a much different team 13 months ago. Fresh off of a miserable 4-11-1 season that saw Super Bowl winning Coach Doug Pederson fired. One month after the coaching change, an expected Carson Wentz trade saw the once MVP candidate packing his bags for Indianapolis.

Fast forward to yesterday, and Lurie was more than pleased to announce that starting in the 2023 season, the Eagles will fully bring back the Kelly Green uniforms and matching helmet. As for a reason why we didn’t see the Kelly Green’s in 2018 when Alternates were approved by the league was due to the one helmet rule. This rule was changed in June of 2021, allowing teams to have a 2nd helmet with their uniforms. Lurie also confirmed that while the Kelly Green’s won’t be available for this upcoming season. Instead, the Eagles will be using a black helmet to go with the black uniforms that have been used throughout the previous years.

Hopefully the black uniforms aren’t your favorite. Because they might be getting the axe in 2023 when the Kelly Green will take over as the alternate. So be sure to rock your black jerseys as much as you can this year. It will be sad to see them go, but it should be worth it when the Eagles unveil the Kelly Green uniforms for 2023.

There’s nothing I’m more excited for than being able to fill the closet with more Eagles jerseys. Most of Twitter expressed the same feelings to the news Lurie gave yesterday:

Look forward to the 2022 season. With 3 first round picks still on the Eagles draft board. Big moves are still likely to come to the roster. Hopefully your favorite college prospects will be wearing Kelly Green by the time the 2023 season rolls around. The 2022 Draft is only 29 days away!

Go Birds!
