The draft has been wrapped up and the Eagles rookie minicamp is underway. The Eagles left behind no doubt after last weekend that they got way better. Its seemed like the team transformed in a matter of three days, and with the combination of veterans added in free agency,  the star receiver they added, and a very strong rookie class, are the Eagles favorites to win the NFC East?

The team added two defensive assets during the draft who could be the anchors of philly’s defense for years to come. Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean were two of the best defenders in all of college football, and their chemistry coming from college to the NFL is going to be exciting to watch. The Eagles might finally have a legitimately talented linebacker room for the first time in a long time with the additions  of Dean, Reddick, and Kyzir White.  The only remaining holes on the defense are at corner and safety, but the Eagles front office and coaching staff seem to be way higher on the young guys they have than the general media likes to make it seem. They have guys like Tay Gowen and Kary Vincent Jr. who they traded for last year. They also have rookie undrafted free agents like Mario Goodrich and Josh Jobe. Unless the birds add someone really late like they did with Steven Nelson last year, then it might be interesting to see what a combination of young guys can do on the opposite side of Slay.

On the offensive side, it is very clear that they want hurts to succeed, and they proved that by going out and trading for his bestfriend AJ Brown, who is one of the best receivers in the league. That addition makes the Eagles so much more dynamic on offense. It also frees up DeVonta Smith more. The O-line will still be playing at an elite level, and the run game will still be the best in the NFL. The new receiving duo of Brown and Smith should make the Eagles passing offense just as dangerous as the run offense.

The Eagles clearly got better, if Hurts can play well the Eagles are easily the favorites in the NFC East.
