As we get into the dead period of the NFL news cycle, all we have to do is speculate on how we want the Eagles to look, and how good they can be. After putting together one of the best teams we’ve seen the Birds have in awhile, there is a couple things we want to see when training camp rolls around.
Firstly, we want Jalen Hurts to continue to build off the way he looked in OTA’s. Many people noticed that the young QB has gotten considerably bigger this off season, seeming to have added a good bit of muscle. He went 20-25, 4 TD, and 0 picks in the two 7v7 drills the Eagles had during OTA’s. His accuracy seemed to have improved too, having hit DeVonta Smith for two deep ball touchdowns. He has shown some really encouraging signs so far, and he seems to keep getting better and better. If he can continue this upward trajectory through training camp, then the Eagles will be looking really good entering the season with the offensive unit they have.
Secondly we want to see Jonathan Gannon utilize the weapons the defense has added. Last year fans can agree that the defense looked boring and underwhelming at times. They also allowed way too high of a completion percentage last year, and forced a way too low amount of turnovers on defense. With new talent all across the defense, we want to see Gannon use his pieces strategically, and use them to our advantage. Adding young talent on all three levels should help the Eagles defense to be a better unit this year.
Training camp kicks off in a little over three weeks, and if the Eagles can put together a clean camp, they will be a top team this year.
