Training camp is finally underway and the Birds are finally back on the field. In Nick Siriannis press conference today, he made it clear that Reagor is battling for a spot on the team. Fans should not be surprised due to Reagors lack of contribution, but it is the first time Sirianni or anyone else has admitted he is not a lock to be on the team entering the 2022 season.
So far this year, Reagor hasn’t been playing with the starters at all. He has been stuck with the backups on the second team, and it seems nearly impossible that he’ll work his way up into first team reps. He currently sits at 6th on the depth chart behind AJ brown, DeVonta Smith, Quez Watkins, Zach Pascal, and Greg Ward. It seems highly unlikely that the Eagles are going to keep six receivers, so Jalen Reagor would have to beat out at least one guy to make the team.
Sirianni also made it clear that Reagor is also battling for his return spot as well. Eagles fans know how awful he was in the return game, so it would be unlikely that he would be back to return even if they didn’t bring in some intriguing players like Britain Covey or Devon Allen.
It is nice to see someone of value like sirianni finally admitting that Reagor isn’t as talented as we all hoped, and that they’re not committing to him just because he was selected in the first round. There is a possibility that we enter week 1 with Reagor on the bottom of the depth chart, but it is more likely he will either be on the practice squad or not on the team at all.
