The Eagles kicked off their preseason on Friday night against the New York Jets. The Birds ended up losing 24-21, but there were some really encouraging signs from the starters.
Firstly, the Eagles offense looked aggressive and fast. They came out of the gate quick and scored a touchdown on the first drive thanks to A good throw from Jalen Hurts to Dallas Geodert. Hurts went 6/6, 80 yards, 1 TD. He looked good when throwing the ball, and he was able to spread the ball out really well across the field to several different receivers. Quez Watkins and Miles Sanders both looked really fast. It was encouraging to see Sanders catch two balls out of the backfield and get some good gains with the run after catch. The only down side was not seeing any throws to AJ Brown, but we will get to see plenty of those as the season progresses.
Another encouraging sign was the play of the starting linebackers and D-line. The D-line looked fast, and the Eagles finally look like they might have a really good Linebacking core! Kyzir White pulled off a great interception on the first drive, and TJ Edwards looked like he has made some significant progress this off season. The chemistry between Nakobe Dean was apparent already. You can tell they are really on the same page and are going to be really good Eagles for a long time. Jordan Davis also looked like an absolute monster on the inside, pushing around starting NFL lineman like it was nothing.
The Birds clearly made some big strides this off season, and even thought the starters only played a drive or two, they showed some really encouraging signs.
