Howie Roseman has made another trade.

It’s official. J.J. Arcega-Whiteside is no longer a Philadelphia Eagle. Being able to get anything of value from Arcega-Whiteside was impressive. Let alone more competition for the Safety position which might be the Eagles biggest question mark heading into week 2 of the preseason.
Drafted 57th overall. Arcega-Whiteside has 290 Yards and 1 TD (2 If you want to count this Miles Sanders fumble.) It was quite hard to imagine that he even made the roster last season, but with nearly $64 million in dead cap space the Eagles didn’t have too many options.
Even if D.K. Metcalf wasn’t on the Eagles boards at #57. There was much better options that have panned out since the 2019 Draft, including:
- Diontae Johnson (66th)
- Terry McLaurin (76th)
- Maxx Crosby (106th)
- Hunter Renfrow (149th)
- Travis Fulgham (184th)
The Eagles had already missed their chance at Deebo Samuel/ was already gone by the time the Eagles took the stage at #53. Luckily the Eagles did end up with A.J. Brown, they just had to wait 3 years.
WR-converted-TE J.J. Arcega-Whiteside was one of several draft mistakes in the last couple of years. Including WR Jalen Reagor who’s time could also be up in Philadelphia.
The Follow-Up Error
With only 695 Yards and 3 Touchdowns in 2 seasons with Philadelphia, Jalen Reagor has been another Off-The-Board bust by the Eagles. Taken 21st overall in the 2020 Draft, the Eagles got further torment from another NFC team. Justin Jefferson has 3016 yards and 17 touchdowns with the Minnesota Vikings, getting taken immediately after Jalen Reagor at 22nd overall.
Jalen Reagor has had just as many issues with fans as J.J Arcega Whiteside did. Last seasons 13-7 Loss to the New York Giants could have been avoided if this pass had been caught by Jalen Reagor on what was an unsuccessful game winning drive.
Finally watching the #Eagles game.
Jalen Hurts threw two perfect throws to Jalen Reagor in the final minute — and he dropped both of them (one his eyes were closed).
For all of Hurts flaws in the game, he should have a 4th-quarter comeback and game-winning drive on his resume.

As if the ‘Unlike Agholor’ memes couldn’t have gotten worse, we had Reagor reaching for 4th down passes with his eyes closed.
Almost Gone, But Still Here
Trade talks with the Ravens fell through during the Draft after the Ravens traded Marquise Brown to the Cardinals, and were interested in moving Chuck Clark after drafting Kyle Hamilton. The Eagles needed Safety help, the Ravens need more Receivers. I’m amazed Howie Roseman didn’t pull the trigger on this trade. With Roster hopeful Britain Covey being signed after the draft, he could put a threat to Reagor’s position on the team. Reagor isn’t excelling at any part of the offence he was getting plugged into. Gadget plays? Nope. Returning? Nada. He’s had good moments in camp. But he also had good moments in last seasons camp. So it’s hard to get your hopes up.
Unfortunately, cutting Reagor from the final roster might not prove wise for the Birds. As the 2nd last year of his Rookie Deal would see him giving the Eagles an $8M dead cap hit. As much as I’d like to clear the crowded WR room. A trade would be necessary so that the cap space could be put to better use, potentially filling an injury hole near the trade deadline on November 1st.
It doesn’t help that the WR depth seems to be fairly locked in. With A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and Quez Watkins being the presumed WR1/2/3 this will leave Zach Pascal and Reagor fighting for a WR4/5 spot that has plenty of competition from Greg Ward, Britain Covey, and Devon Allen.
The NFL Regular Season begins in 21 days. 24 until the Eagles first game.
