Today the Utah Jazz made the blockbuster move to move on from Donovan Mitchell. Officially in full rebuild mode, the Sixers should inquire about adding 6th man Jordan Clarkson. Jordan Clarkson for Matisse Thybulle, Paul Reed, a 2026 1st Round pick swap, a 2029 1st Round pick, Shake Milton, and Furkan Korkmaz would improve the team without giving up too much.
Matisse Thybulle is an elite defender. His lack of an offensive game cancels out any good on the other end. The move to a rebuilding team will let him start and work on his offensive game under less pressure. After losing Gobert, former G League MVP BBall Paul will have a chance to work on not fouling and get an opportunity for more touches on offense.
Shake and Furkan are just fillers but have both shown flashes at times.
Clarkson won the 2020-2021 6th Man of the Year award averaging 18.4 points per game while only playing 26.7 minutes per game. Sixers fans may remember him dropping 40 against the squad during the Ben Simmons at center versus Gobert game that year.
Doc Rivers is no stranger to 6th men of the year. He has coached three winners over the last seven years in Jamal Crawford, Lou Williams, and Montrezl Harrell. Harrell is also available.
The bench would then feature Jordan Clarkson, De’Anthony Melton, Danuel House, Georges Niang, and Montrezl Harrell. If not Harrell, there are plenty of other serviceable backup bigs available. Not even Doc could mess up the rotations with this group.
