On the Move for Philly?

One name that has been discussed in leaving the Philadelphia Union is Kai Wagner.

The German defender has been with the club for the past four seasons.

In 2022, Wagner started in all 32 games for the Union and had 15 assists on the season.

Although his numbers don’t stand out on the stat sheet, Wagner played a viable role on the Union defense.

Clubs (outside of the United States) have quickly taken interest in acquiring Wagner, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a potential deal for him come the January window.

Dating back to the summer deadline, Leeds United was highly interested in obtaining Wagner.

However, Leeds and Philadelphia didn’t agree on a deal before the deadline, and now even more clubs have Wagner on their radar with the January window approaching.

Bedoya Returns for Another Year!

On September 22, 2022, the Philadelphia Union agreed on a one-year contract with midfielder and team captain, Alejandro Bedoya.

This season, Bedoya had six assists and six goals in 29 matches played.

Additionally, he joined Philadelphia Union history by becoming the third player to score 20 goals and 20 assists for the club.

Bedoya signed with Philadelphia in 2016 and was named a team captain the next season.

Undoubtedly, his presence has immensely contributed to the Union’s success.

He is one of several veterans on the squad, but Bedoya is a phenomenal mentor for the young core.

His leadership on and off the field has been extremely valuable especially since the Union are one of the top teams in MLS.
