Following last Thursday’s win, the Eagles are still the only undefeated team remaining in the NFL. They took care of business against an inferior Texans team. Although Philadelphia never completely pulled away, they were always comfortable and cruised to a victory. The Eagles didn’t seem to kick it into high gear, but they handled the game like professionals.

Monday Night

The Eagles next game is Monday at home against the Washington Commanders. This is the second time the Eagles have been on Monday night this season. The previous Monday night game was week two against Minnesota, where Philadelphia dominated the Vikings 24-7.

This time Taylor Heinicke will be in at quarterback for Washington. This was supposed to be the anticipated return of Carson Wentz to Philadelphia but instead he is out with a broken finger. Heinicke started against the Eagles last season as well. In that game he threw for 247 yards on 27/36 attempts and added an interception.

Earlier this season the Eagles dominated the Commanders. The defense was all over Wentz, sacking him nine times. DeVonta Smith also had a monster game, catching eight balls for 169 yards and a touchdown. Smith had three huge catches in the first half that fueled the Philadelphia offense.

I see this game on Monday being a little more competitive. Heinicke is a better quarterback than Wentz and the team plays better around him. Washington has been playing better in recent weeks and division battles are always tricky. The Eagles possess a slight advantage coming off the Thursday game: they had more time to prepare and recover.

There is no reason for the Eagles not to win this game. They are the more talented team on both sides of the ball. Further, Washington’s strongest unit is its defensive front, but the Eagles strongest unit is its offensive line. The Eagles usually win those battles. Let’s not forget this will be a home game for the Eagles. The Linc is always an advantage, but especially on a Monday night. Expect the Eagles to come out flying on Monday. Philadelphia should want to flex their muscles early and ride their talent to a win. After this week, there will still only be one undefeated team in the NFL, and it will be the Eagles.
