Yesterday, it was announced that the Eagles signed Linval Joseph.

The Injury List Grows

The Eagles started off the season extremely lucky. 9 weeks had gone by and the only major injury the Eagles had was Derek Barnett’s ACL injury. Lane Johnson’s concussion saw him only miss some of the Cowboys game and Maddox missed Week 4 and 5. Things were looking healthy for Philly until Monday’s game against the Commanders that saw Eagles dropping left right and center.

The injury to Jordan Davis left a gap in the Line that clearly the Eagles felt the impact against both the Texans and the Commanders. Even after Davis’ injury during the Steelers’ game. things started to look different for the defence. I wrote about the teams need for Davis to return here, and now it’s even more prevalent.  Marlon Tuipulotu was added to injured reserve along with Dallas Goedert after Monday nights game. With multiple Defensive Tackles headed to IR. It only made sense the Eagles would sign some assistance. Fletcher Cox and Haason Reddick also appeared on Wednesday’s Injury Report.

The run defence has taken a major blow without Davis on the field. The Eagles allowed back to back games with over 150 rushing yards. This also allowed the Commanders to control the Time of Possession for over 40 minutes on Monday night.

That’s why GM Howie Roseman didn’t stop with Joseph. This afternoon, the Eagles announced that they signed Ndamukong Suh.

Another Addition

With the 2 additions to the line, Howie has provided all the help the defence might need in the absence of Tuipolatu & Davis. With the latter eligible to return Week 13 against the Titans. A game that will see the opponent rely heavily on the run game in Derrick Henry.

Suh’s 11 year career saw him collect 70.5 Sacks and 130 Tackles For Loss. While he may not have the same motor as he used to. The Defensive Tackle picked up 6 Sacks, 7 Tackles For Loss and 13 QB Hits last season with Tampa Bay. While the Eagles might be asking for Suh to play a starting position for the next few weeks. I could see his snap count decreasing when Jordan Davis returns. Allowing for Cox, Davis, Hargrave and Joseph to substitute and not be stuck on the field for 70 defensive snaps like Cox was on Monday.

Will the Eagles recent additions be enough to slow down Jonathan Taylor and the Colts on Sunday?
