This season the NFL has allowed teams to add alternate helmets. This has allowed teams to wear more uniform combinations. In addition, many teams have brought back their throwback jerseys.
Sunday night the Eagles will debut a new uniform combination for the second time in two years. Last season, against Denver the Eagles also debuted a new combo with white tops and black bottoms. That was the first time they did not wear black jerseys with the black pants. This season they have added a black helmet to the rotation. Eagles twitter released a hype video previewing the jerseys.

New Helmet
Now able to use an alternate helmet, the Eagles are bringing a complete blackout to Sunday night football. For the first time in franchise history, Philadelphia will wear all black. In the past, they have always used a green helmet. Personally, I love the all black look. The combination makes sense for a big night game at home on national television. Adding the black helmet will complete the black jersey look. We also got a preview of the players in the uniforms. At first glance they look great.

It will be interesting to see how the Eagles perform in their new uniform. Last season they went 3-0 in the white-black combo. In the debut game, they defeated Denver 30-13. Hopefully, these uniforms provide a spark for a team hitting a slight lull in the season. They must show up at home and take care of business against a struggling Green Bay squad. Green Bay will have seen how the Eagles slowed down Jonathan Taylor, but they will still try to get the run game going. Aaron Jones seems like the perfect player to gash this defense. Once again, the Eagles will need to stop the run.
Next Season
Look for the Eagles and the rest of the NFL to have new jerseys every season. The Eagles will bring back the Kelly Green uniforms next season. After that, I hope they will stop releasing new helmets or uniform combos. Traditionally the Eagles have been kelly green and, more recently, midnight green. There isn’t another uniform for them to turn to. A rotation of the two colors will have plenty of combinations and be the perfect amount of jerseys. For now, we will see how the all blacks look on Sunday.
