The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off an explosive offensive win against the Green Bay Packers. They will be facing a much better team this week with the Tennessee Titans coming to town. The Titans are 7-4 and have a firm grasp on a weak AFC South. Lets take a look at the most important matchup we will see in the game.
Eagles Rushing Offense Vs Tennessee’s Rushing Defense
The Eagles are coming off a game where they were able to put up an outstanding rushing performance. The Eagles had 49 rushing attempts last week, accumulating a total of 363 rushing yards (7.4 Yards Per Carry), and three touchdowns. Miles Sanders accounted for 21 of those attempts, 143 yards (6.8 Yards Per Carry), and two touchdowns. Sanders is averaging 5.1 Yards Per Carry on the season as a whole. Jalen Hurts accounted for 17 rushing attempts, 157 yards (9.2 Yards Per carry). The Eagles have the best Offensive Line in the league to help boost their potent rush offense.
The Titans defense, led by Jeffery Simmons, Denico Autry, and David Long, is one of the better run defenses in the league. The Titans have only allowed 3.8 Yards Per Carry to opposing running backs this year. They have faced some teams with running threat QBS’s such as the Giants and Bills, but on the season they are only allowing 4.0 Yards Per Carry to opposing QB’s. Their defense as a whole has recovered eight fumbles so far this season, which is something the Eagles RB’s have been really disciplined in.
Honorable Mention
There are plenty of other big matchups this game that everyone will be watching. AJ Brown will be facing his former team for the first time. He should be in for a big game as Tennessee has one of the weaker passing defenses in the league.
Also, the Birds run defense VS. Derrick Henry. Henry is one of the scarier backs the Eagles have had to face this season, and it is no secret they struggle in that facet of the game. The Eagles should be able to contain Henry to a degree. He has not had a game with more than 90 rushing yards in the past three weeks. Hopefully the Eagles can take advantage of their struggling offensive line, and make sure to gang tackle to take Henry out of the game.
