NBA Dunk Contest
It should be a unanimous decision that Mac McClung was the shining star of NBA All-Star Weekend.
Over the past few years, the NBA Dunk Contest has been a bit disappointing, but McClung put on a performance in Salt Lake City, Utah.
McClung earned three perfect scores for four of his attempts, so it was clear who would be crowned the champion.
His journey is quite fascinating to say the least and is a prime example of why you should be prepared for your moment.
After being undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft, McClung signed a few 10-day contracts with the Chicago Bulls and then inked a two-way deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Most of his professional career has been spent with NBA G League teams.
In fact, McClung has only scored 8 points on the NBA level and has yet to suit up for the Philadelphia 76ers.
Let that sink in for a moment. McClung deserves all the recognition in the world for throwing down dunks that had people in disbelief.
I still cannot get over the fact that McClung did not receive a perfect score every round.
Considering he did each of these jaw-dropping dunks on his first attempt, I give a lot of credit to McClung. His name will forever be cemented in NBA history.
Embiid’s All-Star Game Curse
Fun fact, Joel Embiid is now 0-5 in his five NBA All-Star Game appearances.
It’s extremely surprising to see such a drought for Embiid, but the outcome of the game is out of his control. The Sixers big man is one of few players who truly competed during the matchup.
Embiid recorded 32 points (14-19 FG), 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.
After all, not bad for someone who was originally listed as an All-Star reserve, but then was elevated to the starters due to other players injuries.
LeBron James used his first selection on Joel Embiid for his squad.
Despite all the disrespect Embiid has received from the media, players around the league know how valuable Embiid’s presence is.
Unfortunately, Team LeBron fell short to Team Giannis by a score of 184-175, but Embiid is bound to win an All-Star game sometime soon.
