The Eagles are rumored to be interested in multiple players that may not be there when they go on the clock with the 10th pick. With next year’s draft capital they may try to move up and select one of this year’s top prospects. There are three players in this year’s draft worth moving up for. If the Eagles are looking to move up in this year’s draft, it needs to be for someone who will be impactful immediately. Here are the three players worth moving up for on draft night.

Paris Johnson Jr., OT, Ohio State

The Eagles are rumored to be extremely interested in Paris Johnson. Paris is the best offensive lineman in the 2023 NFL draft and can play both the guard and tackle spot. In 2021 he played 13 games at right guard and in 2022 he played 13 games at left tackle. With this type of versatility he could start next season at guard and eventually be the right or left tackle for the next 10 years. Paris Johnson has been rumored to go as high as third overall. If the Eagles are as impressed as they are making it seem, they may try to move up and get him.  Adding Paris Johnson to an offensive line consisting of Lane Johnson, Jordan Mailata, Jason Kelce, and Landon Dickerson would make the best offensive line in football even better.

Will Anderson Jr., Edge, Alabama

If Will Anderson Jr. slips outside of the top four picks I think there is a real possibility the Eagles try and move up. Will Anderson Jr. is the best player in this year’s draft class and has the potential to be one of the best edge rushers in the NFL. The talent at edge in this year’s class is strong but none come close to the talent level of Anderson. It’d take a lot to get in position to select Anderson but we’ve seen Howie Roseman do some wild things on draft night.

Jalen Carter, DT, Georgia

Jalen Carter was at one point considered the best player in this year’s draft. Some off the field incidents hurt his draft stock and there is a possibility he is there at 10. At the same time, multiple teams in front of the Eagles could benefit from selecting him. The Chicago Bears have the ninth pick in this year’s draft and are a possible destination for the defensive tackle. Making a trade with the Falcons (Pick 7) or the Raiders (Pick 8) would move the Eagles in front of the Bears and allow them to select him. If this is Fletcher Cox last season as an Eagle, the idea of replacing him with the best defensive tackle in the draft makes a lot of sense.

It’ll be very interesting to see how the first round shakes out. The Eagles have always been aggressive on draft-night deals and I don’t think that’ll change this year. If they are enamored with one of these three prospects, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see them move up to get him.
