So the James Harden drama continues…

It’s pretty ironic after everything that Ben Simmons put the Sixers through, the guy they received back in exchange for Simmons is threatening to put them right back where they started.

Daryl Morey has admitted that Harden opted into his player option to request a trade, and subtle things like removing the Sixers from his bios on social media have also confirmed this.

James Harden is looking for a highly lucrative long-term deal that the Sixers are wise not to give him.

Although Harden has had his moments with the Sixers, even at the best of them, he has been a shell of the player he was in 2017 and 2018 when he won back-to-back MVP awards.

Philadelphia would now be the third team that Harden has forced his way out of. In Houston, Harden failed to take care of himself and put on weight, and in Brooklyn, he faked an injury that was magically healed when he arrived in Philly.

It remains to be seen what Harden will do to the Sixers to get traded out of Philadelphia, but whatever it is will be an unnecessary distraction for the team. Harden has shown that if he does not want to be somewhere that he has no issues causing drama around the team to get his way.

Currently, the relationship between Harden and the Sixers is still salvageable, but not for much longer. Daryl Morey and the Sixers brass must figure out this situation before the team starting training camp in September.
If Harden pulls the same stunts he pulled in Houston and Brooklyn, any hope of an NBA Championship this year might be over before it even begins.
