The Eagles have played two preseason games, and some players have been surprised.

Let’s look at a couple of players who should make this team.

Tanner McKee

McKee has been better than Marcus Mariota by a landslide. His stats didn’t show how good he played because his receivers had some bad drops, but McKee has been really solid so far. He went 10/18 for 147 yards and a touchdown against the Browns. He isn’t a mobile QB like Jalen Hurts is, but he is a really good pocket passer.

The Eagles should keep him on the team to develop him so they can use him for trade value one day. They should also keep him because he is going to be a much better option than Marcus Mariota would ever be in case something happens to Hurts.

Christian Ellis

Ellis has looked really solid this off-season. He should be a lock to make the team with the way he has been playing. He should even be in consideration for being a starter. The only concern is that the Eagles have four other backers that they might want to keep on the team. They have Nakobe Dean, Nicholas Morrow, Zach Cunningham, and Myles Jack.

If the Eagles don’t want to keep five linebackers, they should cut one of the veterans mentioned above to keep Ellis. It is worth noting that Shaun Bradley is facing a serious injury, so that might make enough room for the other five linebackers.

Mekhi Garner

Garner is proving that he can make an impact right away on special teams. As a gunner, he has consistently been the first one to the ball. He forced a fumble against the Ravens on a special teams play. He is versatile on defense; the Eagles are mixing up his corner and safety reps, so he has experience in both.

Since we lost Zech McPhearson for the season, it should open a spot for another corner to make the team, and Garner is making a good case for himself.

There is only one preseason game left before the Eagles have to make almost 40 cuts to get to the 53-man roster.
The three players above deserve to be on the team.
