With the Eagles season having come to a catastrophic close on Monday. The next part of the Eagles year will be planning for the off-season.

While they’ll be watching the rest of the playoffs from home like everyone else, Free Agency (March 13th) and NFL Draft (April 25-27th) are still to come following Super Bowl LVIII.

We don’t need to worry about mock drafts just yet as Howie Roseman and Nick Sirianni attempt to keep their jobs over the fallout from their early playoff exit.

What we are able to focus on is the Eagles upcoming Free Agents.

Last year, the Eagles had a laundry list of 25 players – including multiple pro-bowlers hitting the open market.
This year, the Eagles only have 19 players with expiring contracts.

QB Marcus Mariota
RB D’Andre Swift
RB Rashaad Penny
RB Boston Scott
WR Quez Watkins
WR Olamide Zaccheaus
TE Albert Okwuegbunam
TE Jack Stoll
OL Sua Opeta
OL Jack Driscoll
C Jason Kelce

LB Shaun Bradley
LB Shaquille Leonard
LB Nicholas Morrow
LB Zach Cunningham
S Justin Evans
DT Fletcher Cox
DE Brandon Graham

Special Teams

P Braden Mann

With a shortened list, the benefit for the Eagles is that most of these were former 1 year deals and most of the list were backups.

Think of how excited fans were in March when former Seahawk Rashaad Penny was signed following Miles Sanders departure? Turns out Penny would only play 31 offensive snaps for the Eagles.

Shaun Bradley was injured in the pre-season and spent the entire year on IR. Justin Evans was close behind him, playing 4 games and missing the rest of the year.
And if not for the injury plagued Linebackers, the Eagles probably would not have signed Shaquille Leonard. Losing Bradley and Nakobe Dean for the year with Cunningham missing games down the stretch were the cause for extra LB roster moves. With this many players departing from one position (multiple years in a row) the Eagles should look towards signing or drafting another long-term solution.

Amongst the Free Agents are several fan favorites with important decisions to make. While Brandon Graham has confirmed he’d like to play one more season in Philadelphia, it’s ultimately up to Howie Roseman to get that deal done. With Cox’s future still up in the air, it seems most likely that Jason Kelce will be making a retirement announcement soon. There’s already been draft picks spent to move on from the career-long Eagle vets, but anything can happen from now until March.

With plenty of these players signed or added to fill out the depth chart, like Albert Okwuegbunam, Boston Scott and Marcus Mariota. The Eagles won’t have nearly as big of a problem finding the replacements to fill out the depth chart compared to their previous off-season where they needed answers for Javon Hargrave, C.J. Gardner-Johnson and more. See the whole 2023 list here.

Motor City Draft

This year, the draft will be hosted in Detroit. A team that could be in the Super Bowl less than a month from now.

With the Eagles being eliminated, their draft order is mostly set:

With an estimated $28.5M in available cap space for the 2024 off-season, what moves are you hoping the Eagles make this spring?
