The Sun Has Set On A Basketball Tradition In Radnor.

On Friday, Cabrini Mens Basketball played its last home game ever. The Cavaliers lost to Marywood in Radnor, PA 54–53 on Senior Night. The Cabrini Mens Basketball program has produced Tyheim Monroe, Aaron Walton-Moss, and Billy Carr.

In 2023, it was announced that this year would be the last for Cabrini College amid declining enrollment and a myriad of financial difficulties. The University of Villanova will be buying the land that Cabrini currently sits on.

Cabrini College was built on the estate of a mansion with some history. It was constructed between 1901-1903 by James W. Paul Jr., who was a relative of Anthony Drexel. In 1925, it was acquired by Dr. John T. Dorrance, who invented condensed soup and was the President of Campbell’s.

Cabrini College was founded in 1957 by the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (MSC). The religious order was founded by Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini.

In the fall of 1957, 43 women arrived and were the first students of Cabrini College. Male students arrived in 1970. Total enrollment would get to 1,000 students, and Cabrini counted more than 10,000 alumni.

Cabrini also assisted in the formation of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference.
