He Was on a 49ers Team that Was Overtime Away From a Ring. Now he Joins an Eagles Team that was A Field Goal Away From One In 2023.

It’s tough to be productive on the field when you are a part of a running back group that is headlined by starter Christian McCaffrey (the 2023 Associated Press Offensive Player of the Year.) Running back Tyrion Davis-Price, who signed a futures/reserves contract with the Eagles this week, is now out of that situation.

You may be familiar with Davis-Price.

Born and raised in Louisiana, Tyrion attended Southern University Laboratory School in Baton Rouge. As a senior, he rushed for 2,500 yards with 29 scores.

When it was time for this rusher to choose a college, he didn’t go far.

In his freshman season at LSU in 2019, his team advanced to the National Championship Game.

The stage was not too big for him.

During his freshman season, he amassed 295 yards and six touchdowns. In his junior season, he was a thousand yard rusher with 1,003 total yards and 6 touchdowns. During a game against Florida, he led the Tigers to a 49–42 win and ran for 287 yards.

In 2022, he was the 93rd selection in the NFL Draft. As a rookie for the 49ers, he ran for 99 yards. In 2023, he was resigned on the 49ers Practice Squad. Being behind 49ers running backs Christian McCaffrey, Elijah Mitchell, and Jordan Mason limited his touches in San Francisco.

With the uncertainty of the Eagles current roster of running backs including hometown favorite DeAndre Swift, Davis-Price adds depth prior to the April 26th NFL Draft.
