A Unique Partnership Is Giving New Life to A Historic Community Pool.

Not far across the river from Philadelphia about fifteen miles into the heart of New Jersey, three entities are coming together to form a partnership benefit the students of Rowan College of Burlington.

And what better use for a nearly 100-year old community swimming pool?

Kings Road Brewing Company, the Community Center of Moorestown, and Rowan College of Burlington County are all joining forces to utilize the historic pool as a microbrewery.

But not only a microbrewery for the community.

This will be a microbrewery assisting students in obtaining a degree in Brewing Science, which is a growing industry across America.

The Community House officially opened in 1926. Events included a Community Players Night with musical accompaniment by the Moorestown Orchestra, and a wrestling match by the University of Pennsylvania Team that was played as an exhibition.

During 1931, the building was made larger to provide space for meetings. The gymnasium became an elegant ballroom in the year 2008. The Garden Room got an extensive and complete refurbishment in 2011. The Community House main lobby area also went through a remodel in 2013.

The news comes as Philadelphia’s collegiate sports teams are also doing really well.

Two swimmers impressed from the University of Drexel at the Friday night CAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Jakub Kwasny captured gold in the 100 fly and partnered with other swimmers Nathan Piccolo, Alasdair Bell and Sebastian Smith as Drexel men’s swimming and diving took three medals on Friday night. Sebastian Smith also won silver in the 100 mens fly competition.

In Massachusetts, an evening at the Mens Ivy League Swimming and Diving Championships was highlighted by a silver-medal performance by University of Penn swimmer Matthew Fallon in the 100-yard breaststroke while James Curreri finished third in the 1,000-yard freestyle.

Penn’s team currently ranks 4th in the nation.
