The Roar of the Lion — Heard By the Birds.

Penn State Football Is Back, Not Just As A Winning Team But As One of the NCAA’s Top Football Programs.

Those who assumed that Penn State Football would never return to prominence again don’t know James Franklin.

Penn State Football is once again one of the top programs in the country — and the NFL is taking notice. The Eagles are at the top of that list.

Something special is once again shaping up at the top of Mount Nittany.

Many thought that when the Eagles drafted running back Miles Sanders with the 53rd overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, it was a makeup pick for a year earlier when the Giants selected Penn State star Saquon Barkley with the second overall pick. Now Barkley is with the Eagles, and Sanders has been relegated to a role with the Carolina Panthers, which may very well be behind Chuba Hubbard and Jonathon Brooks. Barkley returned to Pennsylvania by signing a 3-year $37.75 Million deal in March.

Training camp will once again give former Nittany Lions linebacker Brandon Smith another opportunity to make the Eagles. Taken in the fourth round in 2022 by Carolina — Smith spent 2023 as a Practice Squad Player for Philadelphia.

In the offseason, the Eagles picked up former Penn State defensive lineman P.J. Mustipher. Mustipher was a two-time All-Big Ten player in 2021 and 2022 who joined the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent and also spent time with the Saints.

The Eagles are renowned nationally for selecting the best collegiate talent from top programs like Alabama, Georgia, and Clemson. They are proud to add Penn State to that list — acquiring Nittany Lion talent on both sides of the ball.
This means that of all the places the Eagles look for talent to add to their team from across the globe, Happy Valley is high on the radar.
