RECAP: A Furious Rally Falls Short for Villanova at Maryland, 38-20

Villanova Got All That It Could Handle on Saturday in Maryland.
A furious second-half rally was not enough to overcome a 24–0 first-half deficit as the Maryland Terrapins (3–1) broke Villanova’s unbeaten streak (3–1) on Saturday afternoon at SECU Stadium.

Villanova’s defense would surrender 497 yards of total offense to Maryland, including 328 yards passing by quarterback Billy Edwards, Jr., 157 yards receiving by Tai Felton, and 159 yards from a quartet of Maryland rushers.
Villanova began a furious rally in the third quarter, including a 24-yard interception return by Ty Trinh and a 17-yard pass from Connor Watkins to Devin Smith. A Tanner Maddocks 8-yard run pulled the Wildcats within 38–20, but it was too little, too late.
The last time the two programs met was on September 1, 2007, and the result was much the same, with Maryland winning 31–14 at Maryland.
Next week, Villanova returns home to face the winless LIU Sharks Football Team (0–4) on Saturday evening at Villanova Stadium.
