St. Joe’s Field Hockey Isn’t Just Winning.
The Team Is Winning Records.
By the numbers of his season, the Saint Joseph’s University Field Hockey Team got a 7–0 win on Thursday, which capped a five-game winning streak and a 12–2 record.
But it’s the record books where the Hawks are making another significant impact.

In a battle with Lock Haven in early October, the thirteen goals during that game were an Atlantic-10 record, which ironically surpasses a record set by the University of Richmond in 2009. The 40-point game is the second-most in Division 1 history and the most in a D1 game this season. The team is also setting records inside the program this season.
The Saint Joseph’s Field Hockey Program dates from 1975. Although mostly associated with Native American tribes on the plains, modern field hockey is partially rooted in a game called Shinny, played on North American soil long before colonial civilization.
St. Joe’s (currently ranked sixth in the country) will play Drexel at noon on Sunday, St. Louis on October 25, and #10 Harvard.
The season will end with LaSalle at home on November 1st.
The talent of this Hawks team may play well into the A10 Tournament.
