Philly Sports Stardom Comes to Arcadia
Once Again, the Lynam Name is Basketball Gold in Philadelphia.
One must wonder what well-healed sugar baron William Welsh Harrison would have thought about his beloved Grey’s Tower Castle — now sitting in the middle of Arcadia University — lit up with Eagles’ Green. Like many Gilded Age mansions around Philadelphia — Grey’s Castle was first constructed in 1898 above what is not Route 309 —it was the design of famous Philadelphia architect Horace Trumbauer.
Built at the direction of Harrison — the Castle was inspired by Alnwick Castle in England and purchased by Beaver College in 1962.
But it’s not only the night-time midnight green illumination of the Castle’s great walls that draw attention to the Kuch Athletic Gymnasium at Arcadia this February. Instead, it is its point guard that is gaining growing focus.
Freshman Arcadia point guard Jamison Lynam has a name that you may recognize.

The grandson of Philadelphia basketball legend Jimmy Lynam—a star at West Catholic High School and an integral member of the 1961 St. Joseph’s University Final Four team—also played in the NBA, including as the General Manager and Head Coach of the 76ers from 1987 to 1994.
But Jamison doesn’t need any of that recognition. One afternoon or evening, seeing his play, one cannot help but recognize the talent. This season — Lynam is averaging 14.0 points per game and 3.4 assists — including an impressive 23-point game against York College in November 2024. On Saturday against King’s College — Lynam would score nineteen points.
Arcadia’s Grey’s Tower Castle continues to shine green in the dark February night hours like a green beacon in honor of the Philadelphia Eagles.
The shining basketball talent inside Arcadia’s campus will no doubt shine for a long time to come.
