Love, as Catching as Philadelphia Itself
That’s right, Philadelphia. It’s a pandemic of love in the City of Brotherly Love right in time for Valentine’s Day this past Friday.
Relax — no need to rush out to your local urgent care center — although it is contagious.

On Friday — while love filled the City of Philadelphia in its iconic Park and for couples all over the Delaware Valley — on Broad Street, an even more passionate love was on full display.
The greatest professional football team to play in Philadelphia ever joined over 1 million fans along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia for a celebration never before seen in Philadelphia. The magical ride of 2018 couldn’t even compare to the 2024–2025 ride.
Like most things, love is deeply rooted in Philadelphia’s history.
When Pennsylvania founder William Penn passed away in 1718, it was his second love. Hannah Callowhill Penn became Acting Proprietor of Pennsylvania in 1726. Penn would live in Philadelphia and is still the State’s only ever female Governor. Or in 1723 — when Benjamin Franklin’s adolescent eyes got his first glimpses of both the City of Philadelphia and a youthful Debra Read standing in a Market Street doorway who would become his wife of 44 years (three guesses which one of those sights piqued his interest more).
Long before European colonization around Philadelphia — the Lenni Lenape showed the land and rivers constant love. Last year- Philly even set a Guinness World Record when a 100-year-old and 102-year-old tied the knot as newlyweds (you are never too old for love).
And this week, you might think that the green blood coursing through your veins is concerning.
Relax, it’s not a bird flu variant. The Eagles must have indeed won the Super Bowl.
