Philadelphia Is About to Host Four NCAA Championships During the 2027 and 2028 Seasons
Philadelphia has become an excellent destination for basketball, lacrosse, and other sports events.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) recently announced that the city will host four NCAA Championships in 2027 and 2028.
The city has all the necessary infrastructure and previous experience of hosting this kind of sports event.
With recent initiatives, Philadelphia doesn’t want to stop. It aims to enhance its reputation as a perfect location for prestigious competitions.
Philadelphia’s Intention to Host NCAA Events

The Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) is promoting the city as an excellent destination for sports events. They plan to attract 175,000 visitors, including athletes, coaches, and fans, annually. This way, they are determined to enforce positive economic growth in the region. Sports tourism and sports practice will most likely soar during this period. Online bookmaker brands will also expand their offering with new betting markets.
Here are the NCAA Championships coming to Philadelphia recently:
- 2027 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Regional Championship
- 2027 NCAA Division I, II, and III Men’s Lacrosse Championships
- 2027 and 2028 NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championship
With the recent additions, Philadelphia will host more NCAA championships. With extensive infrastructure and local passion for sports, the number of sports events is about to grow in the future.
Before the 2027-2028 championships, the city will host the 2025 Division I Wrestling Championship and the 2026 Men’s Basketball First and Second Rounds.

Celebrating a Return to Lincoln Financial Field
The 2027 Men’s Lacrosse Championships will be the ninth time Philadelphia will host this premier event.
Don Smolenski, President of the Philadelphia Eagles and PHL Sports Advisory Board Chair, said:
“We look forward to welcoming the NCAA, its student-athletes, coaches, and the lacrosse community back to Philadelphia.”
Lacrosse fans from across the country visit Philadelphia over Memorial Day weekend for this event. The city has more than 80,000 visitors. This championship promises both a cultural celebration and an economic boost to the city.
Legendary Venues to Host NCAA Championships
The universities involved in hosting the championships are excited about the future initiatives.

- Saint Joseph’s University, hosting the Women’s Basketball Regionals, sees this as an opportunity to further elevate the sport
