Around the NFC East: Week 9 (Bye Week Edition)
It is now around the middle of the NFL season. If nothing else, we need to take the time to appreciate the character arch the NFC East had in the past few seasons. Headlines went from jokingly asking what losing team would make the playoffs to seeing three teams battling for playoffs and one team on the verge of turning things around.
The Philadelphia Eagles remain in sole possession of first in the division. The Dallas Cowboys are in second with the New York Giants on their doorstep. The Washington Commanders are trying to make things happen to get into the NFC East race.
Washington Commanders: No Bye Week…Yet
The Commanders came off of a loss to the Minnesota Vikings, 20-17, though the team is starting to piece together what they need to do to get back into the NFC East race. The team faces the Eagles, Texans and Falcons next. These next three games will be crucial in determining where the Commanders stand for the rest of the season since the rest of the NFC East is strong.
New York Giants: Enjoying a Bye Week
The New York Giants are having a dominating season. They faced the Seahawks before their bye week and came away with a loss, 27-13, but that shouldn’t steer the team from the positives they had thus far. The Giants face two “easy teams” followed by a string of NFC division games.
Dallas Cowboys: Also…Enjoying a Bye Week
The Dallas Cowboys are also taking a much-needed break this week. Not like the Cowboys needed it too much since they beat the Chicago Bears last week, 49-29. The Cowboys finish off taking on the NFC North with the Packers and Vikings, then face the Giants and Texans.
Philadelphia Eagles: Mini Bye Week
The Eagles now have a “mini bye week” following their short week coming off of their actual bye week. Now, the team has the perfect opportunity to take a look at the film from some of the issues that arose after the bye week. The Eagles next opponents are the Commanders, Colts, Packers and Titans – all teams that the Eagles defense will need to be on the lookout for.
